Chiwaukum Cemetery

The cemetery is located just off of US Highway 2 by the Tumwater Campground. It is a very old cemetery with crosses made from tied together sticks to mark the grave sites. It is surrounded by a old iron fence and is overrun with brush and growth. Thirty feet to the west is a lone grave site that is surrounded by rocks and clear of brush.

The Chiwaukum Cemetery is located off of US Highway 2 between Leavenworth and Stevens Pass. The turn off is on a dirt road between mile marker 89 and 90. Look for the Tumwater Campground entrance. From the Tumwater Campground entrance drive north towards Stevens Pass for .4 miles and turn onto the dirt road on the left hand side of the road. The dirt road will fork just after the entrance. There will be a large fenced in treatment area with a dirt road to the left and a large open area to the right. Take the dirt road to the left. The road runs between the highway and the treatment area fence and is about .1 miles long. The cemetery is located to the right at the end of the dirt road and can easily be seen from the dirt road. There is room to turn your vehicle around by the cemetery. The cemetery can be reached by car but is very rutted and rocky. There is another grave marker 30 feet to the west past the fenced plots. It is located at Latitude 47.6822 and Longitude -120.7356.
