Incorporated on July 1st of this year. Cashmere was the new name for the town of Mission. Judge James H. Chase, having traveled to India, thought the area reminded him of the mountainous Vale of Kashmir in northwest India and suggested the citizens of Mission to rename the town to Cashmere.
