Walter Anderson and Milt Cloke began promoting the idea of a ski area in Leavenworth in 1926. The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club began work on the ski hill on November 16, 1928. The first annual Leavenworth Ski Jumping Classic began on February 10, 1929. National Championships were held at the ski hill in 1955 and 1959. The last ski jumps were made in the late seventies.
Today the ski area features two rope-tows and many events throughout the winter season.
The Leavenworth Ski Area is located at the corner of Ski Hill Drive and Titus Road. Ski Hill Drive can be reached from turning up 3rd Street from U.S. Highway 2.
