The Columbia River begins its journey through Chelan County near the city of Pateros. From Pateros, the river heads south where it soon leaves Okanogan County when Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan Counties meet. Shortly after the river enters Chelan County it must pass through Wells Dam. From Wells Dam the river continues southwest between Chelan and Douglas Counties where it next will pass through Rocky Reach Dam. From Rocky Reach Dam the river travels south where it will divide the cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.
After leaving the Wenatchee Valley, the Columbia heads east until it reaches Rock Island. Just past Rock Island the river will have to pass through Rock Island Dam where it will then head south until Chelan, Douglas and Kittitas Counties meet. At this point (map marker location) the Columbia leaves behind Chelan County.
There are many parks along the Chelan County side of the Columbia River including, Chelan Falls Park, Entiat Park, Wenatchee Confluence State Park, Walla Walla Point Park, and Wenatchee Riverfront Park.
