Lake Wenatchee is part of the Wenatchee National Forest. On the north side of lake is Wenatchee Ridge, Dirtyface Mountain, and Pole Ridge. On the south is Natapoc Ridge, Nason Ridge, and Round Mountain. The Little Wenatchee River and White River feed the lake and the lake drainage creates the Wenatchee River. A large wetland is located at the northeast end of the lake.
Lake Wenatchee is home to Lake Wenatchee State Park, Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp, and Glacier View Campground.
The small community of Telma sits along the north shore of the lake. The city of Plain is nearby and Coles Corner is at the junction of U.S. Highway 2 and State Route 207. The surrounding areas around the lake feature many activities including; skiing, golfing, horseback riding, fishing, and thousands of miles of trails to explore.
